C42 Skin Replacement

I had a scheduled flying lesson for today, but due to strong crosswinds it was supposed to be cancelled.

However I was already on my way and didn’t get the message.

When I turned up the Clubhouse was empty, but after mooching around for a little, Greg appeared and was talking another C42 in to land on the crosswind runway (21).

I turned out to be Greg’s fellow instructor from the sister airfield in Kent and they had flown up to get some skins replace on the horizontal and verticle stablisers. Being kept out on the airstrip and not hangered, UV light had started to make them brittle, also a family of crows appeared to be trying to steal parts of the fabric for nesting material.
